Assumption Parish Waterworks District No. 1, a non-profit organization, was formed in 1959 with the sole purpose of serving the citizens of Assumption Parish with potable water. The District's governing body is made up of eleven members, all of which are from each part of the parish. The Police Juror from each ward appoints one individual and the other two are appointed by the Village of Napoleonville. The Board of Commissioners appoints the General Manager. The General Manager is in charge of the daily operations of the water plant and the employees that are employed by the District. The current population served by Assumption Parish Waterworks is approximately 20,689 (based on July 1, 2021 census data).
