APWW Customer Update
January 25, 2025
Good Morning APWW Customers,
The expected high temp today is 62! No freezing temps in the 10 day forecast. Time to turn off any dripping. Nice weather to get out there and make repairs if you haven't done so already. Distribution staff is on standby in case they are needed. Everything is running smooth at the plant. We have finally been able to run 2 booster pumps in the field. Towers have crept up to about 1/3 full. Everyone's pressure should be much better. If not, go check under your house and in your yard for leaks. If you find no issues please let us know. Keep an eye out for leaks at unoccupied homes and camps. Let us know if you find any.
We are being asked if you can wash clothes. That tells us lots of folks have followed our conservation request. Thank you for doing so. Yes, you may wash clothes, run your dishwasher and shower. We are not 100% but are in much better shape and improving by the hour but please don't use any water unnecessarily.
Yes, the Precautionary Boil Advisory is still in place. LDH guidelines are in a previous post. Thank you for your continued patience and support!

APWW Customer Update
January 23, 2025
Good Afternoon,
Distribution crews are in the field assisting customers to turn off their water. Reminder...install a shutoff valve as soon as you can if you do not have one. If we have to go out and turn your water off and you have a shut off valve there will be a charge. We are also finding homes that are not occupied with broken lines bleeding water. We ask that if you see any to let us know.
The office will be open tomorrow for normal business hours 8:15 AM - 4:15 PM.
There is some confusion that it is our broken lines that have cause the water/pressure issue. We have found no APWW lines broken. The dripping of faucets in homes and then the breaks on home lines is what is causing the extreme demand that we simply can not keep up with. That's why we ask everyone to drip only, turn off when temps rise and do needed repairs as soon as possible.
We realize there are some areas in the farthest reaches of our system that have no water. This will improve as customer repairs are made and we can gradually recharge the system. We are currently seeing some improvement and hoping for it to continue but we have two more nights of freezing temps.
Thank you again for your cooperation and understanding. The staff is working around the clock to do all they can to get the system back to normal.
APWW Customer Update

Dear APWW Customers,
The temperature has risen above freezing. Please turn off your dripping if you are doing so. Make a check under and around your house and make repairs as soon as possible. The plant is continuing to run. We are still producing and sending out as much as we can.
Please remember that we are under a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory until further notice!
Thank you.
Precautionary Boil Water Advisory - Update
January 23, 2025
Good Morning APWW Customers,
Temps will rise above freezing again shortly. We ask that you continue to conserve water and use only what is necessary. Please repair your leaks as soon as possible. The quicker leaks are repaired the quicker we will be able to recharge the system. We have two more nights of freezing temps. We have issued a parish wide Precautionary Boil Water Advisory.
Recommendations from LDH...
If you live in an area under boil notice, have lost water pressure at your tap or if the water pressure is extremely low, State Health Officer Jimmy Guidry, MD, recommends homeowners disinfect their water by any one of the following methods prior to consumption (including drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or preparing food): Boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one minute boil time begins after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a bottle or pouring it from one container to another.) If the water is clear, mix 1/8 teaspoon of unscented, liquid chlorine laundry bleach with one gallon of water and let it stand for at least 30 minutes prior to consumption. If the water is cloudy or colored, use 1/4 teaspoon of unscented, liquid chlorine laundry bleach per gallon of water. Be sure to mix thoroughly. If the treated water has too strong a chlorine taste, it can be made more palatable by allowing the water to stand exposed to the air for a few hours or by pouring it from one clean container to another several times.
Boiling is the most effective method to disinfect water, particularly for people who are severely immunocompromised (infected with HIV/AIDS, cancer and transplant patients taking immunosuppressive drugs, or people born with a weakened immune system) and for infants and elderly who wish to take extra precautions.
People obtaining water from a public water system under a boil notice must continue to disinfect their drinking water by one of the above listed methods until notified by your water system or the Department of Health that the water has been tested and is safe to drink.
People who have been affected by loss of water service may expect some irregularities with their water while efforts are being made to ensure that the water is safe. It is expected that water may have an unusual chlorine odor as well as possible sediments appearing in the water while these special precautions are taking place. Flushing household taps for a few minutes should fix these problems.
